I knit a very similar scarf recently and couldn't bring myself to part with it, and I knew that since I loved it so much, perhaps my wonderful customers would love it too so I made another!

Isn't it perfect?  The colors go perfectly together, and the yarns are all so soft!

I used a few different fibers, wools, merinos, *cashmeres*, all very soft, all very luxurious and all very warm.

What's not to love?  This scarf will be in my shop just as soon as I get model shots with it, which will hopefully happen today...so keep your eyes peeled!

Coming to the Shop

I've got some new items coming to the shop this week!

Today, this deep sapphire lacy slouch will be added:

It's made out of a washable wool blend and is so soft and light without jeopardizing your warmth and comfort :)  And, as always, I can make this slouch out of any color you'd like, just send me a convo!

Later this week I'll be adding this super scrumptious scarf to the mix:

Merino, wool, and *cashmere* make up the fibers in this luxurious, long, skinny scarf.  Long enough to wrapped around you neck over and over with just the right amount of lengthy fringe at the end, what's not to love?

Knitting News

Whats going on on the knitting front over here at SillyLittleLady?  Lots 'o' stuff!

I'm finished with the knitting part of the collaboration with lylianmae and am writing up the final draft of the pattern, although I still need a name for it...

I'm trucking away on the Max Suit (click here to see the process), finished one leg, now working on the other, the end is coming closer and closer with every stitch and I can't wait to see what it looks like finished!

I'm also designing and working up another pattern, this time a cute little cardigan but I don't want to give away too many details.  Let's just say, it uses these materials ;)

Oh, and of course there is always that secret knitting that I worked on in Paris that I can't tell you about yet, but someday my good readers! Someday!

What's Been Happenin' Lately

I know I haven't been posting like I should, and to be honest, I don't get time to post till the evening these days and I figure that people don't read them if I post so late. Like its not worth it to post if you aren't going to post before noon. Is this true? Do you still read my posts even when they come later? Please tell me :)

But in the mean time, I really should tell you what I've been up to! I have SO many custom orders for the holidays, I've been doing loads of knitting and some dyeing too!

Here are some of the yarns I dyed this past weekend for custom orders:

This yellow one is my favorite (granted, I'm partial to yellow...) It is so gorgeous, so soft, subtle but happy :) It is being knit into a pair of custom elbow-length knucks as we speak. (Knucks are my word for fingerless mittens with a mitten flap)

This purpley-blueish-greenish yarn goes with a bright light green that I have yet to photograph, but they will be made into a pair of little girl's fingerless mitts and matching flower hat.

Custom Scarves

Yesterday I finished up two custom scarves by finally attaching the fringe and labels :) For some strange reason it always takes me a little longer than it should to finish up with the fringe on things and I'm not quite sure why? Regardless, I love both of these scarves and am excited to see them off to their new homes!

The first is a simple lace scarf in a hand-dyed merino. It is very soft, very cozy and very long:

Second is this gorgeous leaf lace scarf out of a wonderful alpaca and silk blend called Miracle. so soft and wonderful to work with! I used up two skeins completely, nothing left :)

Birthday Sweater!

My momma had a birthday recently and as her gift, I decided to knit her this sweater:

I really love the yarn, it was very fun to work with, was very soft and defined the stitches perfectly, actually, I critiqued the yarn here. The pattern was found on Ravelry and can be accessed with this link.

Now my for-myself project is one for me in turquoise :)

The Epic Dr. Who Scarf

Ok ok, I know I've been talking about this for a while now, but its finally finished! Its done! Completed! Finito!

More than 61,200 stitches went in to this scarf. Its more than ten feet long (which is why I have Matt modeling it, it was dragging on the ground when I put it on!) without the fringe, and the fringe adds at least 6 inches to each side. Its also over a foot wide and when wrapped around my neck as much as it could, easily served as a neck-brace.

It was knit with seven skeins of different colors, all 100% merino wool. This scarf will definitely keep its wearer warm for YEARS to come.

It wasn't the most complicated knitting but it was a lot of knitting regardless and I am actually very proud of the way it turned out :D What do you think?

I have been working on some beanies this week, check the shop frequently to see all kinds of new designs :)

A lightly cabled red beanie, knit double thick for warmth and made out a durable, machine-washable yarn.


A chocolate cabled beanie that will have a flower pin to add to its charm :) Knit out of superwash merino in a dark brown heather with specks of blue and orange throughout.

Custom order for a coworker based off of a design from a comic book he and his boyfriend read. (From what I hear, his boyfriend wanted to wear it to bed last night he likes it so much!) I'm so glad they both appreciate the beanie, it was really fun for me to make :)

Yarn Review: Merino Frappe

For the past few days I have been working on a project I can't tell you too much about just yet ;) But I can give you a review about the yarn I am using if you'd like.

I decided to use Merino Frappe by Crystal Palace Yarns. It is made up of 80% extra fine merino and 20% nylon and comes in balls of 140 yds. The yarn has a small halo which allows it to show off texture (cables, knit direction) but the individual stitches are not as defined (which is great for my project) and gives it a nice mossy type of look. The fabric has a wonderful drape but I am using size 10 needles when the yarn calls for 7 to 9, still I can tell that this is not the type of yarn to be stiff or unforgiving.

It is very easy to work with and stitches do not get split or dropped easily. Very warm and soft, this would make perfect winter garments and it comes in a wide variety of colors.

Have you ever used this yarn before? What are your thoughts? Pros? Cons?

Awesome Possum Gloves

So remember this hat and this hat that I made for my friend Miriam? Well we have collaborated again and come up with these neato torpedo elbow length gloves! Luckily her arms and my arms are the same size and our fingers are the same length, this made making the gloves fit a bit easier.
They are completely wool, mostly merino, and they have these super cute vintage buttons on each cuff! I almost didn't want to give them to her...again....hehe.

also, here is how my cousin is using her new DS case!

The Rasta Beret Pattern

So my friend Miriam pretty much brings out some of my best hats. She tells me what she wants, or at least an idea of it, and lets me be creative with the rest.

Our latest brain child was this totally awesome, super soft, very warm slouchy-rasta-beanie-beret. It is knit with two strands, one merino and one soft fuzzy acrylic held together throughout in 3 different colors of each. It is loose and warm and a relatively easy project.

Those beginning knitters out there who have mastered scarves and basic beanies would enjoy this pattern because it is still easy with minimal shaping, but is beyond the basics. Advanced knitters would also enjoy this project because it is not complicated and would provide a needed break from the more time-intensive pieces they have done.
