Light Brown Hare

Are you all familiar with the shop Light Brown Hare?  If you're not, you should be. 

She sells beautiful hand dyed yarns, stitch markers and spinning fibers.  The yarns are dyed in very small batches and no skein is ever exactly alike so you can always have one of a kind pieces to give to your friends, family or yourself :D

Another Collaboration!

I am so excited to announce to you all that I am in the works of another collaboration with another Etsy seller!  This time, the wonderful yarnie is lylianmae, a yarn and fiber dyer, spinner and knitter.

My Huge Thrift Store Score!

So if you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that a week or so ago, I made a humongous score at the thrift store!  I got a literal MOUNTAIN of yarn for quite a deal :D  Aren't you proud?

You can see there where I kind of nested myself in the middle while looking at each and every ball.

I found all kinds of goodies that by themselves would've cost more than than I spent on the whole lot!  So many vintage wools, Tahki Donegal Tweeds, handspun silk, handspun Camel (that's right. Camel) along with rovings of wool, silk, camel and others that I can't definitely place.  I got so many wonderful yarns!

Now, of course, I can't keep them all for myself, my studio would explode.  Speaking of which, I have to move my studio, right when I was finally getting it all set up too! Isn't that sad?  But its ok, I'll get it all set up again and show you all the final results :)  Ok, back to the score at hand, I can't possibly keep it all for myself so I will be periodically destashing some of the goodies in my shop, like this little collection:

Now don't you want to go scoop that up for yourself and make something wonderful with it?  I definitely want to see what comes of the destash, so if you wouldn't mind, let me know what you create with it!

Yellow Order

Let me show you a recent custom order I created.

I love them. I didn't want to let them go! I hand dyed the yarn myself and we all know how much I love the color yellow. Sad to see them leave, but so happy they'll be keeping someone else's hands toasty warm :D

I knit them out of this yarn, that I mentioned back in this post.

They were knit in a nice ribbed pattern to ensure that they fit a range of arm sizes and the mitten flap open up to allow the fingers to move freely to unlock the door, turn on the car, answer the phone, and reach into your wallet all without having to sacrifice the warmth of your hand!

What's Been Happenin' Lately

I know I haven't been posting like I should, and to be honest, I don't get time to post till the evening these days and I figure that people don't read them if I post so late. Like its not worth it to post if you aren't going to post before noon. Is this true? Do you still read my posts even when they come later? Please tell me :)

But in the mean time, I really should tell you what I've been up to! I have SO many custom orders for the holidays, I've been doing loads of knitting and some dyeing too!

Here are some of the yarns I dyed this past weekend for custom orders:

This yellow one is my favorite (granted, I'm partial to yellow...) It is so gorgeous, so soft, subtle but happy :) It is being knit into a pair of custom elbow-length knucks as we speak. (Knucks are my word for fingerless mittens with a mitten flap)

This purpley-blueish-greenish yarn goes with a bright light green that I have yet to photograph, but they will be made into a pair of little girl's fingerless mitts and matching flower hat.

I hearted this shop a while ago and absolutely love drooling over the exquisite yarns! They are inspired by fairy tales, fantasy, voyages, past times and modern reality and they definitely instill the same inspirations in this viewer.
The yarns come from two talented women in Germany and Switzerland who love to try new things and engage in many a fiber craft!
Wouldn't you just love to have one of these pieces of art work for yourself? I don't think I could choose just one!

Fiberful Weekend

So this was a very fibrous weekend for me!

I got some knitting done, handpainted some wonderful alpaca yarn that will be going up in SillyLittleYarns later and finished spinning up that purple roving I've had for ages that will make its appearance sometime this week :)

Also, we made salsa yesterday for the first time, and didn't even have a recipe to follow, we just threw stuff together! We will have the recipe and photos on our website if you'd like to see how you can make salsa without plastic too.
