Another Puzzle

Remember this post? Well I have just completed another puzzle last night. This one is a 1500 piece view of some far off place I long to visit, maybe ride a moped...holding my squeeze (or at least a cute guy who speaks something romantic)....riding off on the beach into the breeze......with Delilah holding on for dear life with her mini helmet and harness leash attached to my wrist...I can see it all now hehe

Perfect Make-Out Music

So I have introduced to some awesome new music lately, or at least, new to me. And the first song I heard by Kings of Leon, along with the second, third, and entire CD, is total make out music! It's not your typical "Love Love Love Blah blah Blah" make out music, its like, in the movies when a couple is having an intense, deep, passionate make out session, this is the background music or something. Totally. Amazing. No Joke.

I played it for my friend Zita to see if maybe I'm crazy or something and she said "If you were a little less than straight I would totally be attacking you right now." So, I think that says it all. Go out there and listen to this music yourself, along with your significant other, and come back here and tell me all about it ;) If I like your story enough perhaps I'll five you some kind of discount for my shop...

Delilah's Picnic!

So this weekend my friend Matt and I took my hammy Delilah on a picnic :)

We gave her a carrot before we left which she promptly pocketed into her cheek pockets and she rode in her little traveling cage in the car until Matt let her climb out then she rode in his lap the rest of the way there. We took some delicious food for ourselves including fresh fruits and Cool Whip, kidney beans, tortillas, cheese, etc etc, all easy to pack and eat foods. The lid of the Cool Whip was laying on the grass in front of me when Delilah started making her way toward it. I attempted to lift the lid out of her path but as soon as I started to pick it up the hamster bellyflopped onto it! There were quite a few little white whipped cream footprints following her after she finally crawled off.

All in all, the picnic was a blast and I know that at least Delilah and I had fun, I'm sure the gent did too :)

Obnoxious Custom Beanie

I had another request for a custom beanie over the weekend and once the little details were squared away, promptly got started on its creation. My friend said he wanted a basic beanie, no earflaps or anything, bright colors, warm, funky and from there he gave me creative leave. And so this is what happened:

The only word I can use for it is Obnoxious.

I think it may be a bit much for my friend, but he said he would take it on a test ride this weekend up to Taos for snowboarding then let me know on Monday if its too much for him. If it turns out to be a little more than he bargained for I will take it with me to the Arts and Crafts Show in May in Los Alamos.

Buttons!

So the other day I received my order of 100 custom buttons from Etsy's very own TagsAndButtons! I have already put each of them in their own separate baggies (included with the purchase) and they are ready to go out with all my orders via Etsy and at the show in May, I am so excited about these!

TagsAndButtons is a wonderful Etsy seller, quick and thorough communication, top-notch products and a super cute mascot that my wonderful Hammie Delilah just drools over :)

If you are ever in the market for super cute custom buttons, magnets, earrings, matchbooks and a plethora of other creative promotional tools, I highly recommend her shop.

Sunsets and Slippers

So this weekend was a busy one! Filled with lots of fun, hanging out with friends, relaxing and taking gorgeous pictures :) My friend Nico and I went out to the Quebradas, went off-roading in his massive truck to a pretty place with random springs (I know, standing water in New Mexico? No Way!), where we ate a delicious dinner and watched the sun set over the hills.

I also felted some custom slippers for a friend, and this is how they turned out :)

Day Dreaming

*Sigh* So you all know that my ultimate ambition is to have my own yarn store slash tea/coffee bar in southern Colorado somewhere someday.

Well, when this dream comes true I will, of course, need some aesthetics to keep the place fresh and inviting and I came across this print by toadbriar on Etsy and it is definitely one that I will need for my shop. No question.
It may just be the first piece of artwork that goes up on those walls :)

Puzzles

Do you like puzzles? I like puzzles. I like knowing that even if I only put one piece together, its still a contribution to the whole. If one little piece is missing the picture is incomplete. I don't have to finish the thing in a day to feel like I accomplished something, a little bit here a little there, it all adds up and then the puzzle is finished.

Here is a recently finished puzzle put together by me and whoever was at my house for the week it took to put together in between cooking, classes, work and homework. I apologize for the glare but you'd be surprised at how shiny puzzle pieces can actually be.

Whoo! 3 Columns Finally!

I've been wanting a 3-column blog for such a long time (remember this post?) and was guided to this tutorial from art2theextreme's blog.

What do you think? Clearly I need to change up the colors of the font on some of my older posts as they are hard to read now, but other than that, I really like it! And now you can actually see the ProjectWonderful Ads right over there <-------------

Tell me what you think: likes? dislikes? mediocre likes?

Movie Review: The Watchmen

So, while in Las Cruces this weekend visiting some friends that go to NMSU, we decided to go see The Watchmen. We didn’t know exactly what it was about, but had something to do with superheroes killing superheroes, so how bad could it be right?

The opening sequence came on and I was like “Damn, this is a heavy opening” and pretty much as the film continued, a version of the same thought ran through my head. The movie was very dark and very heavy. I don’t just mean the colors were dark and it was raining 90% of the time, the mood was dark, the story was dark, the dialogue, everything. Most superhero movies, Batman, Superman, etc, have a relatively simple plot: bad guy gets neutralized by the good guy, happy, feel-good type of film. This one was not so simple. There was a lot of strong, and generally controversial issues.

Clearly its makers wanted The Watchmen to be an epic type of movie. Often though, in their attempts for epic, they just ended up making it long. There were definitely scenes throughout that I thought either could be left out entirely or could easily be shortened to get the same feeling, same gist, across without all the extra bells and whistles.

For 2 hours and 45 minutes of film, the last 15 minutes of happy, sunshine-y, feel-good-ness did not make up for the 2 and a half hours of gloomy, dark, weighty epic-wannabe. We still left the theater kind of feeling withdrawn and down.

I would give this movie three out of five stars. The visuals were good, the sound was intriguing most of the time; the movie was different than most others and certainly other superhero movies.

Perfect Timing

Half way through midterms, two days away from Spring Break, and what happens? I get the flu!

Last night my throat felt a little tight when I got home from work so I drank some Echinacea tea while cooking dinner and as the night progressed, so did my ill feeling.

Sleep last night was difficult, more than normal even! I went into the doctor today and she ran some tests after hearing my symptoms and sure enough, I have the stupid flu.

Got some prescriptions, excused from the rest of my classes this week as well as work so I'm just going to self-medicate and try to beat this thing before the weekend arrives. Whoohoo. Go me.

Ravelry Swap Package #2!!

So, evidently, my package arrived at my box on Friday but I wasn’t able to pick it up till today on my way to work so it sat there, on my desk, taunting me for my entire shift. The moment I got home I tore into it (gently, of course) and couldn’t keep the smile from my face! Absolutely every little (and big!) thing in the box was so amazing J

My spoiler is so generous and thoughtful and absolutely remarkable. She even sent treats for Delilah!

I received incense (burning right now, so utterly wonderful) in a scent that I did not have that was wrapped in this really pretty yellow runner with white and black designs on it (which will most likely become my table runner for my trunk which is masquerading as a coffee table. I received 4 different types of tea which all look so divine, a tea infuser (which I didn’t have), the coolest, most awesome, marvelous white elephant tea pot (I don’t even know if I want to use it or just stare at it!) in which was hidden a pack of chocolate and a super adorable llama keychain (which I think I will hang from my rearview mirror), some really delicious looking raspberry jam, ginger jam and clotted cream (will definitely be trying on toast tomorrow morning), a packet of Stride gum, and four (repeat: 4) skeins of Berroco Pure Prima cotton that she sent so I could start working on the Lelah top for myself (a project for me? That I will get to keep? Wow!) and don’t forget the breakup CD she sent when she heard of my recent breakup (I am recovering just fine, by the way).

To my Spoiler: Thank you so much, if you were here now (or anytime in the future) I would most definitely give you a very big hug and smooch for your generosity and thoughtfulness.

Bags

So I rode my bike to campus/class/work this morning and had to switch out my bags before doing so. I definitely need a large, sturdy, comfortable bag to carry my books, laptop, food, and incoming mail in.

So, of course, I was browsing Etsy looking for bags that fit the above prescription and came across so many super cool shop! Wanna meet them?

Rainbowswirlz has this super cool skull bag:

Rejoicebags has some super fantastic choices as well!
What is your favorite bag that you bought or are drooling over on Etsy?

Renovated Bike

Remember this bike? Well my very generous, helpful Dad took it home with him the other weekend, fixed it up and sent it back down with my momma this weekend!

It has new (white-wall) tires on the old rims, new handle grips, a new seat, one new pedal (the other old one wouldn't come off for anything), a wicker basket and cannot forget the bell! I can't wait to ride this charming bike all around campus hehe.

My momma and I had a super wonderful time, shopping, gossiping, doing all the girl things I knew we would do. The Carolina Chocolate Drops were very cool, it was a great show, very personable, good music, cultural, fun.
