Hey my knitting readers, I've started another blog to host all of my knitting so that my non-knitting readers over here don't get bored with all the yarn talk - check it out!
We stopped at Produce Stand outside of Chama the other day on our way home from Pagosa Springs and were given slices of watermelon. Yellow watermelon. I didn't even know yellow watermelon existed?! Did you?
After we had finished those wedges, we were given some of pink watermelon and both were delicious, flavorful and quickly gone. I normally don't like watermelon because its too watery and doesn't have enough flavor, but these slices were amazing!
These Etsy finds remind me of summer, fresh produce and soaking up the sun :)
1) Picnics! Eco Friendly Blanket from SewnNatural
2) Sunglasses! Vintage Red Sunglasses from EShipShop
3) Sundresses! Vintage Sundress from Homecoming
4) Tomatoes! Mister Tomato from YuliaKazansky
5) Green Leaves! Lush from mistflowerphoto
6) Sunburns (not so "!") Sunburn 1964 from ValerieGalloway
What's your favorite way to spend a summer day?
**And please fill out my little survey :) you can find it in the upper left hand corner, under my banner but above everything else! Thank you so much!

Tri-Color Mohawk Beanie
I recently sent off this awesome hat in the mail and have to show you all about its awesomeness.
Its got earflaps with little circles of each color crocheted on (which actually makes it crazy warm!) and the mohawk has sections of each color tied in too. I knit it out of wool, two strands held together which will make sure the wearer never ever gets cold!
I hope to show you some pictures of her wearing it if she sends me any ;)

Yellow Order
Let me show you a recent custom order I created.
I love them. I didn't want to let them go! I hand dyed the yarn myself and we all know how much I love the color yellow. Sad to see them leave, but so happy they'll be keeping someone else's hands toasty warm :D
I knit them out of this yarn, that I mentioned back in this post.
They were knit in a nice ribbed pattern to ensure that they fit a range of arm sizes and the mitten flap open up to allow the fingers to move freely to unlock the door, turn on the car, answer the phone, and reach into your wallet all without having to sacrifice the warmth of your hand!

What's Been Happenin' Lately
I know I haven't been posting like I should, and to be honest, I don't get time to post till the evening these days and I figure that people don't read them if I post so late. Like its not worth it to post if you aren't going to post before noon. Is this true? Do you still read my posts even when they come later? Please tell me :)
But in the mean time, I really should tell you what I've been up to! I have SO many custom orders for the holidays, I've been doing loads of knitting and some dyeing too!
Here are some of the yarns I dyed this past weekend for custom orders:
This yellow one is my favorite (granted, I'm partial to yellow...) It is so gorgeous, so soft, subtle but happy :) It is being knit into a pair of custom elbow-length knucks as we speak. (Knucks are my word for fingerless mittens with a mitten flap)
This purpley-blueish-greenish yarn goes with a bright light green that I have yet to photograph, but they will be made into a pair of little girl's fingerless mitts and matching flower hat.
What have you been up to lately? Feel free to post links to blogs and photos :)
Oh! and don't forget our giveaway, it ends on Sunday night! The button is up there in the left hand corner, be on the look out for more, I would like to do them every Monday (and if you are interested, feel free to give me a note :))

Monday Color - Goldenrod
As many of you know, yellow is my favorite color. It didn’t come to me naturally that this was my favorite; I had to figure it out. Everyone is always (ok, maybe not "always" but often enough) asking what your favorite color is and while I would usually answer “Anything but pink” I just didn’t know for sure what my one favorite actually was. I realized one day, looking around my small abode at my things I noticed that many of my belongings that saw the most use were yellow and it kind of dawned on me.
Anyways, enough with the random color explanation, here are some neato things I found browsing Etsy by searching the term “Goldenrod”
Indoor Outdoor goldenrod cushion pillow from mustlovehomedecor
Black and Goldenrod Triple Floral Pendant from TheReFORMatory
Magnolia Pleated Bag – Golden from SweetgumHandbags
Solid Yellow Gold Handknit Sunshine Scarf from CricketsCreations

Meet Daisy!
So a week ago I sold my car. Yup. Carless. But guess what? Not stuck and dependent on others for rides anymore! While in Denver for the 4th we scoured the Craigslist ads and found this beauty:
Her name is Daisy, she's a 2003 Honda Metropolitan and she is A-mazing. So much fun to drive as well as ride while Matt is driving. Just enough room for two people and somehow we manage to squeeze all of our school stuffs on with us too (don't ask me how, I'm positive it defies physics). I love her bright yellow coloring, its my favorite :)

Before we decided she was the one, I took her out for a spin all by my lonesome while Matt waited at the truck and when I came back he said it "fit" me and, naturally, I asked how. He said "Its classic, curvy and small" 0.0 That's a good thing right? Cuz, I think she kinda looks like a snail, the seat as the shell and the mirrors as the antennae (eyes) she is just snail-looking. But he assured me is was a good thing and we haven't looked back.

Its a great feeling to go flying down the streets at 35 mph with my hair tied back and my earrings flapping in the breeze knowing that I am getting about 100 mpg. The only thing that could make her better? A cupholder so I can take my tea to class and work with me...I'm sure they make attachments for that right?

Oh, and her seat isn't actually blue, thats a pillow case to keep the seat cool, its black and the sun is a-shinin' today making it a little too warm for my tush after sitting out for a while.

Vanna's Choice Contest Entry
The moment I heard about the Vanna's Choice Contest I just knew I had to enter.
I bought enough skeins of various colors in the yarn required for the contest and got to work dreaming up what I wanted to make even though the deadline was drawing near. I decided that I wanted to make a beret-type hat which turned out.....ok. Not the greatest, but I'm sure it will pique somebody's interest. The project that I have submitted to the contest was this super cute baby sweater.
The body is all a gorgeous yellow color. Flowers and leaves were knit in various colors and attatched to the fronts of the cardigan and the stems were embroidered on. The three little red buttons are quite possibly my favorite part of the cardigan, even beyond the adorable picot edging around the sleeves and bottom edge of the sweater. They just a pop of closure!
The sweater is being modeled by a friend's very photogenic 3 month old, she was very cooperative ;)

One of My Favorite Colors
So, I guess I really like the color yellow. But its one of those weird kind of favorites in that, I wasn't aware it was a favorite until recently. I know I like bright colors. I know I like sunshine and green grass. But if you were to ask me what my favorite color was, yellow would not have been my first answer. Until recently, when I put all my favorite things together on a list in my mind and realized that many of them (if not all) were yellow!
Here is my everyday bag. I knit and felted it myself years ago and love it!

This super awesome treasury is not only full of gorgeous yellows, it features one of my items!
These shoes are so cute that I couldn't resist but buy myself a pair, I will take pictures and post them here once I get them :)

My most favorite-est pencil case (which I made myself) is this one, and guess what color it is! That's right! Yellow!
What is your favorite color? How did you realize it was your favorite color?
