Happy 4th!

Hi all, its Saturday, the 4th, the day for fireworks, flags and friends.

I don't know about you, but I have a lot of plans for today, yet somehow it is just a tad too early to get started on them...but that leaves me a little time to blog!

Yesterday Matt and I switched our website to a new host and have totally redone it! Please check it out and let us know what you think of the new layout, we're hoping it will be a little more user-friendly and organized. It's still in the works, but hopefully you like it :)

What are your plans for today? I know we're going to be busy!

Hamster Hammock

Remember the Hamster Hammock I first talked about in this post? Well I have finally added a listing to my shop so that you can get your own :)

You are able to completely personalize it to your needs and desires, color, size, pocket size and location (or if you even want one to begin with), your pet will feel oh-so-spoiled!

In other news, Matt and I have driven up to Denver for the weekend and are planning on getting a moped tomorrow! Yay! I sold my car earlier this week and can't wait to finally have my own moped.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend and watch fireworks and relax with your loved ones :)

Piggy Bank

Ok, ok, so if you are a regular reader of my blog you already know about my ultimate ambition to own my own yarn store slash tea/coffee bar in Southern Colorado someday.

I have already started saving up for it, aren't you proud?

This is my piggy bank and I painted it myself ... 4 or 5 ish years ago? I think? And let me tell you, it is H.E.A.V.Y. My plan is to let it get as heavy as it can stand (or I can carry) and then take it to the bank, start up a savings account and put all the money from the little pig into the account.

This, along with whatever other earnings I come up with and set aside will hopefully help me to acquire my dream! Yes, it will take a while. Yes, it will be a lot of work. Yes, it will be hard to save up enough to start it. BUT. I can do it. I know I can. And I will.

What dreams do you have? What do you hope to long someday? How are you going about achieving them?

Starting tomorrow!

Today is the last day of June! That means...the No Plastic Challenge starts tomorrow!

For a whole month Matt and I will not purchase anything that has even a smidgen of plastic on it. In our tiny town that is going to be difficult, we don't have a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or anything similar nearby, just Smith's, Wal*Mart (which we avoid like the plague) and John Brooks. I see quite a bit of fresh fruits and veggies in our future, homemade bread (Matt makes the BEST), homemade tortillas, homemade salsa, eggs and beans, along with a few other neat finds we'll show you on our website.

Please don't hesitate to email us (can be found at the bottom of the homepage) or leave comments on this post for suggestions, questions, hints and tricks or anything else you think might be of interest to us.

Natural Soap

I know I know, "why don't you just get Etsy soap? I'm sure you could find some on there that's all natural and comes in natural, plastic-free packaging"

And yes, I very well could and should, but I just had to show you all this soap that I found. In the grocery store. Who ever thunk that you could find this type of soap in a grocery store? And not a cool Whole Foods or Trader Joes either. Smiths. That's what makes this soap so cool to me, I didn't at all expect to find it, but find it I did.

The packaging is all natural, biodegradable and comes infused with seeds so that you can plant it and flowers grow! That sounds neat to me :) And it smells divine, not all soapy and chemically and gross like other grocery-store-soaps.

Shout Out to Awesome Yarn Company

I order a lot of my yarns online as I do not have a local yarn store within an hour's drive. The company I order from most is probably yarn.com, Webs.
They have an amazing selection, awesome sales, and some of the best customer service I've encountered. The last package I ordered from them I asked to be sent using the least amount of plastic possible as per our No Plastic Challenge (even though the challenge hasn't "officially" started yet), and they did. Instead of sending it in a plastic, waterproof bag wrapped in plastic on the inside, they sent just the yarn and invoice in a cardboard box with minimal tape. How cool is that?

And when the package failed to arrive to me, I emailed them asking what was up and instead of getting some automated message about "standards say to wait yadayada days until we can file a lost form blah blah" I got back a personal message stating that they had checked the tracking number and delivery confirmation and the package had been delivered to my post office the week before (why the post office neglected to tell me this, I may never know).

So, if you are in the market for fabulous yarns at great prices and being able to choose from a huge selection, head on over to yarn.com. I promise you won't be disappointed :)

(if you click on the photos they will take you to the yarn shown ;))

Etsy Finds: ACEO

I've been rather curious about ACEOs recently, I hadnot hear about them till I joined Etsy but I have been seeing quite a few cute, beautiful and/or inspiring ones recently and kind of want to seek out a few to post in my creative space (where that is...) Here are few from Etsy that I found and find intriguing, please feel free to share your own favorites in the comments :)

This guy is AWESOME! Elephants are my absolute favorite animal and this one is definitely one of the coolest I have ever seen. Ever. In my life. So cool. Did you catch that I think he's cool?

This one is gorgeous, just gorgeous. The lines created by the brush's movements, the colors, the theme, all wonderful.

This one I find peaceful and happy, ladybugs always made me happy as a child and still do, they are one of the few bugs that don't weird me out :)
