My older brother became a father on Tuesday evening and you know what that means?
I'm an Aunt!
And you know what that means?
I'm going to be sharing all kinds of baby boy goodies for you :) Starting with this bodysuit by neenacreates:
How cute is that? Simple but sweet, cute and it gets the point across, what's not to love?

Flashback Friday - Stretch!
Welcome this week's installment of Flashback Friday! Don't know what Flashback Friday is? Check out Christopher and Tia's Blog to find out how you can participate! Now for this week's picture:
Clearly I am too young to remember this situation, but I remember parts of it. The table in the background is the family table I grew up with, in fact my parents still have it. Its been reupholstered, has a number of scratches and other lovelies that could only come from the hands of a set of growing children anxious at the dinner table.
I wish I was that flexible still....sigh

Flashback Friday - Three Stooges
Every Friday, ChristopherandTia host a Flashback Friday posting. Basically, you find an old(er) picture of yourself, your family, your pet, etc, and you talk about it however you please :D Wanna join the fun?
This week my photo depicts three shady characters.

I mean, who do you know with brightly colored, huge lensed sunglasses and Squeezers? If you look closely, you can see my older brother, picking his nose. On my other side is my younger brother, whose hair looks like he just got hit by lightening. It looks like we were camping (which was a very common vacation, who wants to try and wrangle three kids in a hotel or in the city? Nah, just take 'em out to the woods, at least they'll keep the bears away with their monstrous screams right?).

Flashback Friday!
It's been awhile since I've participated in ChristopherandTias Flashback Friday posts and I am looking forward to it this week!

Now, I'm thinking that eventually I should find and post a picture that I actually remember...well. BUT in my defense, I do remember *parts* of this picture. I remember that truck in the background that my older brother and I were washing (I promise the truck was the original target...he got in the way). It was huge. Even when I got bigger than I was at three years old, it was still a huge truck. I remember taking a lot of family trips in that truck and camping and trying to drive it. We had it a long long time. I also remember the house that this picture was taken at. We were living in Idaho at the time. I'm pretty sure my momma made the outfits my brother and I are wearing (not sure where my little brother is, but I'm sure he has a matching outfit too).

Flashback Friday
Over on ChristopherandTia's Blog she has a Flashback Friday post every week and I love reading them, its a great excuse to conjure up your own fond memories from the past. So this week, I decided I would give it a try :)

Obviously I don't remember how I felt at this particular time (probably sleepy) nor do I have any specific memories regarding this specific couch or even house (I am the little one you see), but I really do love this picture. Its so sweet, so calm, so warming. I'm sure once that little baby *cough*monster*cough* woke up the house was a war zone. But right here, in this moment that has been captured by some unknown, very awake figure with a camera (probably my dad?) all you see is the sweetness and love between mother and her newborn daughter.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Released!
We got word yesterday that the dove we rescued a while back was safely released into the wild. I am so glad that he made it and has rejoined his peers :)

Finished One Order and Onto Another
I completely finished up that frog beanie and have since started on another custom order beanie.
The frog beanie is for a friend's soon-to-be-born niece. It was knit a little larger than newborn size because, the way I see it, everyone always get clothes and accessories for newborns but they very very quickly grow out of these sizes and rarely have enough clothes to fit them when they do. The beanie has a felt lining so make it extra warm (it is headed to Alaska) and big red buttons to hold the earflaps up if desired. I think it turned out really cute :)

The next order on my plate is a custom beanie for a coworker's boyfriend. He handed be a stack of comic books called The Runaways and showed me a character in them who wears various styles of beanies throughout the series and said to pick one. I looked through all the books, sticky-noted every page with a new beanie and after looking them over with the coworker we decided on one that kind of looks like an anime bunny with big floppy ears. Here is the yarn I am making it out of :)

Baby Bird
On Friday Matt and I found a wounded baby bird on campus. It couldn't fly (because it wasn't old enough, not because it was so badly wounded) and we couldn't see a nest in the tree overhead so we scooped him up in Matt's extra tshirt and I carefully cradled him as we drove home on the moped. We put him in a cardboard box with some water and food (not that he ate any, but we wanted him to have access to something). We didn't know what it was, it was too large to be a robin or chickadee, but didn't quite look like a hawk or large bird.

The next day we called the local vet who gave us the number of a bird specialist nearby and after calling her and telling her what we had found she drove straight over and took a look at the bird. She informed us that he was a Collared Dove and assured us that his injury was not extreme or life threatening. She took him home with her and is recovering in caring, able hands :)

Vanna's Choice Contest Entry
The moment I heard about the Vanna's Choice Contest I just knew I had to enter.
I bought enough skeins of various colors in the yarn required for the contest and got to work dreaming up what I wanted to make even though the deadline was drawing near. I decided that I wanted to make a beret-type hat which turned out.....ok. Not the greatest, but I'm sure it will pique somebody's interest. The project that I have submitted to the contest was this super cute baby sweater.
The body is all a gorgeous yellow color. Flowers and leaves were knit in various colors and attatched to the fronts of the cardigan and the stems were embroidered on. The three little red buttons are quite possibly my favorite part of the cardigan, even beyond the adorable picot edging around the sleeves and bottom edge of the sweater. They just a pop of closure!
The sweater is being modeled by a friend's very photogenic 3 month old, she was very cooperative ;)

Crazy Purples, Helmets and Babies
So I finally have added a new item to my shop! It's been over a month since anything new has made its way to my shop, I've been super busy with custom orders, hats, knucks, scarves, slippers, etc. Its nice to finally have new things on Etsy too!
So here it is, the coolest, most neato torpedo purple scarf you've ever seen!

Also, coming soon to my shop (hopefully tomorrow or later this evening) I will be adding the finished set of these booties I talked about way back in this post and the matching beanie!

And here is one of the custom orders I recently finished, a helmet-style hat. The wearer is a bicyclist and wanted something that would keep his ears warm but not cover his eyes (he has a rather large dome-piece). So here is the finished creation, being modeled by my very super handsome boyfriend :)

Coming Soon!
I have another pair of baby booties and matching hat coming soon to my shop!
So far, the booties have been completed. The set is knit out of a recycled mix of white and red wool, they look like candy canes had a love child. It is very soft and very warm, and the colors are great for this time of year what with parties and other social functions that all the hip babies today attend.

The booties are about 5 inches long and should fit munchkins up to a full year old! Why not pick these up for your favorite little one?

The Cutest Baby Booties!
Who doesn't love baby booties? Even if you don't have a baby the excessively small, precious miniatures make even the hardest hard soften just a bit. So I have listed some new booties in my
shop:
They are sized to fit a 3-6 month old and have the most darling little roses and leaves adorning the tops.
And here are some baby items from my fellow Etsyknitters Team members...
From BabbidgePatch, a pink earflap hat with a cute little flower:

From Bubblegirlknits, a super cute strawberry hat with tassels:

NaturalStar has this very adorable Vintage Inspired Organic Merino Sweater:

And don't forget to look at all the other Team Finds!
