Flashback Friday - Pets

This week's theme for Flashback Friday is old pets. The cute pup below is known as Charlie, Charles, Chuckles, Chuckie, Chucks, and many other variations. He was brought home after I spent a morning volunteering with a local shelter at a mobile adoption at our grocery store.

He's been a huge part of my family ever since. Needless to say, my Dad wasn't too pleased when he came home and saw that my mom and I had brought home another dog...while he wasn't home...BUT. In our defense, he and my older brother had been on a ski trip and pretended that brother had broken his leg to make my mom worry. So, its not exactly an even trade, I think we got the better end of that deal :)

Anyways, this cute little terrier-ist has such a personality I can't even begin to describe all of his quirks and characteristics. Primarily I suppose, he is fairly aloof. He doesn't need anyone. He will come to you if he wants attention (which isn't often) and he is stubborn as a mule. (My mom says he gets this from me, I have no clue what she's talking about ;)). He is also supremely afraid of loud noises like thunder, bombs or gun shots.

In this picture (above) we were on a camping trip when a thunder storm showed up. We have to give him little downer pills so that he'll calm down and won't try to hide underneath the carpet (which isn't entirely possible). He's a little neurotic.

And I love him :D

He lives with my parents now, and their dogs, I wanted to bring him down to college with me as soon as I found a place that allowed pets but when the time came I just couldn't take him away from the only home he's ever known. I couldn't separate him from his best friend and brother (who I'm sure I'll talk about in the future) and now his new sister (who will also get her own post I'm sure).

Puppy Sweater

I knit this up real quick a while back while Lisa was still a small pup, she's grown since then and now fits into it rather nicely.

Very simple knit, designed it as I went along and it is my first dog sweater, what do you think? I like the hood, gives it a different attitude :)

I just have to brag, little miss Lisa is only oh...not even 6 months old yet and can sit, lay down, stay, come, shake and now roll over! All on command! I am so proud of her, she is so smart :D Its ok to be jealous, I know you are hehe.

Dropped the Ball

I know I sorta dropped the ball blogging this week, it was a busy one!

I am so glad its Friday and I bet you are too, to end a stressful week on a good note, here are some adorable puppy pictures of little miss Lisa :)She is getting so big! Definitely at that lets-chew-up-everything-and-see-exactly-how-much-mommy-loves-me stage. I don't even want to begin to list off all the things she has demolished but lets just say that yesterday I came home to a completely spiderwebbed apartment. She had gotten into my yarn somehow (its in a closet in a room that we keep shut for this very reason). But I can't help but love a face like this!

A Place to Sleep

With the recent additions (warning: link contains ultimate cuteness) to our family we have also needed to add a little to our treasured belongings (as well as keep these belongings away from the pets). One thing we do tend to share with them though is our bed. Do your pets have their own place to sleep or do they sleep with you? One of these wonderful choices on Etsy would be ideal, now if only we could convince them it was theirs!

Puppies!

Yesterday the boy and I went to the local shelter to just 'look'. Hehe. Yea, you ladies know what I'm talking about. We fell in love with these hoodlums and couldn't leave them there! So I am pleased to introduce you to the newest members of our family:

The darker one is Mona Lisa (we call her Lisa) and the lighter one is Bowser. They are both females and by my guess Lisa is about 3 months old and Bowser is 2 months.

They sure are darling aren't they?

We have been adopted

by the neighbor's dog. He comes running over whenever he hears our scooter go scootin' by and will just lay outside our apartment if we aren't playing with him. When his owners call him he just kinda looks at them but doesn't move! I hope they don't get mad at us, we don't feed him or anything, just give him some water and are training him not to jump on people and to sit down so that he doesn't scratch up my arms and legs, he's still pretty young. Isn't he cute? He's just chilling with his head on our doorstep, lying on our welcome mat :)

and then he fell asleep like that

Christmas Panda

My Samoyed Panda participated in all the holiday cheer this year. He tried to make sure that he was always in the middle of all the action and didn't want anyone to forget that he was there as if his presence was the only reason to celebrate hehe. Here are some pictures of him that I took during the Christmas festivities.

The bow just adds to his charm:

Just the happiest puppy ever!

Here he is looking regal and intelligent (both of which are characteristics completely lost to the poor dog)
