When I was younger...oh probably middle school, elementary school...ish? My parents took us to the Grand Canyon so we could backpack it. We spent three nights, one on the way down, one at the bottom, one on the way back up and although I know I complained and moaned and groaned the entire way, I'm glad I did it. Yes, Mom and Dad (I know you read this) YOU WERE RIGHT. You said that later on in life I would be glad I did it and at the time I was *sure* that you were wrong and that I would never appreciate my time hiking the canyon. I was wrong, I love being able to tell people that I have backpacked one of the seven natural wonders of the world!
Here is the picture from the beginning of our trip, don't we look energized and refreshed? Let's just say that's not how the trip ended ;)

The Grand Canyon is on my "to do" list...still! I dated a guy who lived in AZ who promised to take me there, but we never went. Someday I'll make my hubby and kids hike it with me...whether they want to or not :)
i've never been to the grand canyon! what a great memory! i think i'd probably like to just stand at the top and look out.. no hiking for me! LOL!
check out my blog for my giveaway--ends tonight!
That is amazing!! I've never done anything that cool, we didn't really go anywhere when I was growing up. I guess I went and saw the Big Trees in California, the giant redwoods, but... thats not NEARLY as cool. I bet I would have complained the entire time too, I wasn't big on physical activity, haha. This has inspired me to drag my kids along with us when hubby and I go do fun things like that. Just like you to your parents, hopefully our kids will thank us later :)
yes I have..very hard :) ride the river it's better :)
totally true. Hiking up the canyon was one of the hardest things I've done yet! I had a blister on both ankels and was going delirious due to lack of electolytes in my system! It was way better being on the river :)
