Flashback Friday - Kitties

Welcome to this week's installment of Flashback Friday!  Haven't heard of Flashback Friday?  Head on over to ChristopherandTia's blog to see what its all about and how you can participate :D

A few years ago, when I was a wee college Freshman, living in the dorms with my first ever roommate, we saw a sign in the campus post office for free kitties.  Now, living in the dorms you aren't allowed to have any kind of pet, not even a fish (which doesn't really make sense, no one is allergic to pet fish...) and of course we didn't agree with this rule and went ahead to just go look at the kitties.

And we came home with two.  As a smaller person, I immediately bonded with the runt, a little girl (on the right), and my roommate brought back a rambunctious little boy (the bigger guy on the left).  They loved to sleep on our shoulders, laps, stomachs and chests as we procrastinated did homework.  We kept them for a few weeks then realized we couldn't afford them and the vet bills, so we gave them to some other students who would take good care of them.

This was not the best idea we ever had, but it also wasn't the worst ;)

Flashback Friday - Breaking Bad Habits

Welcome back to this week's edition of Flashback Fridays! Flashback Fridays are put together by Tia over at christopherandtia and are a good way for bloggers to remember things, events, people, etc about their past.

This week my flashback post is about a bad habit that I had to break. I was a thumb-sucker. Everywhere I went my thumb was in my mouth. Not only was this not sanitary, it was also very gross (I assume) for everyone else. My Dad told me that if I quit sucking my thumb, he would get me a kitty.

I quit and he had to cash in on his deal :) The kitty above was Charlotte. We drove to the animal shelter and I got to pick out whichever kitty I wanted. She sure was a cutie and definitely made it worth it to try and quit sucking my thumb. Thats me on the right and my little brother on the left. I'm gonna guess that I was probably about seven years old.

Sadly, Charlotte didn't last too long in my house, my older brother was deathly allergic to cats and after an orange stray adopted us, it became too much for him and he ended up in the hospital and the kitties ended up in a new home.

So for those of you out there who are parents and may or may not have to bribe your children to break bad habits, just remember that you pretty much have to deliver on what you wager. Keep that in mind ;)

Kitty Sitting!

I got to babysit a super cute 7 week old kitten last night :)

She's the runt of a litter of 4 a friend's cat had and I've had my eye on her since I first saw her when she was under a week old. Sadly, I cannot afford to jeopardize my living situation as I am not allowed to have pets (Delilah does NOT count, I am convinced!) so I cannot keep her for ever and ever, but she sure was fun to watch for the night.
